Not sure if this is in the correct spot so if not Mods please move.

Lately I have been wondering about toy gas stations. I did a search but really didn't find much on collections. I remember some time ago that they were sought after and I have to assume that there are some really great collections out there. But are they still collected? I know they require a pretty good space to display and after dusting mine require committed maintenance to preserve the piece.

All this started when I was dusting in our display room and was rather surprised that I had quite a few being I have more than two and less then 20.

Here are some of the stations in my collection.

Wow! Guys those are seriously cool!! And Les, that one with the canopy over the visible pump is beautiful!!! Not to belittle the others, but that is a top shelf piece in my opinion!!!!

Thanks Steve, I am just curious if there are any people still collecting this stuff. I use to have a lot of them and through the years let most of them go, but these are my favorites.

Nucky, those are very cool. It's neat to see the different architecture and branding all though similar to our state side stuff. Thanks for sharing. Les

Those are really cool. I normally gloss over most things these days but found myself taking my time checking these out. I really like the second one

I love the toy gas stations. Reminds me of the simple days of childhood way back when. Great pics!

Thanks Jim, me too, but I still would like to know if people are still collecting/ protecting this part of gas history?

Very cool! I saw one at a local auction recently. Pretty sure the bidders on that item were all toy collectors.

I came across several toy gas stations here in flea market or car swap meet, I don't buy them myself as they usually are really big and took a lot of place to display it correctly but I know some person who only collect those

Great topic, All of the above stations are examples of a era that reminds me of the past were you really got full service. In my younger days, when we all loaded up in the car to go on a trip, I always looked forward to stopping at the gas station to fill up with gas and see all the neat things there, especially the promotion items and give a ways. I have a few stations, not as nice as these, that I will get out and post pictures of sometime over the weekend.

Thanks Nucky, it just seemed to belong with the Gibbs gas station. I think they are from the same time frame. The detail on the bus is amazing which caught my eye. Les

For everyone's information , I'll be again a participant at the Lewis Ginter Botanical garden's Festival of lights and Miniatures show . Located in Richmond Virginia , the gardens are accessed easily off I-95 I'll be showcasing three 1-24th scale models of former service stations . The show opens 11-25 and runs to 1-17-2017

Very cool Ellen, love the clam Shell station. Lights and everything, great job! Les

Les , I began trying to do a former Marland oil station back , two years ago that was built in 1920 on the city's South Side . As you know , Marland Oil's logo was a "Triangle " . This station was erected on a triangular lot and the side walls reflect the slope . The fellow who owns the building is German and has a bicycle shop there now . he's been no help at all and actually politely told me he would rather I choose a different location . He's just plain paranoid as this stretch of Forrest Hill avenue is really nothing short of a "Combat zone " at night with drug dealers ....

Very nice!!! You have the ones I like the most. Do you have any of the Matchbox BP stations? I had a couple as a kid. I have not collected any because that is almost a separate hobby that takes up time, money and space. I do have a one of a kind hand made station "folk art". The only information I have on it is that it was made for a little boy in 1942. It was purchased by an antique dealer from the original owner. It is made out of porcelain coated steel. It is pretty big. The base is 36 inch x 36 inch. It was originally set up with lighting in the garage and pumps.

The Gibbs shell station is pretty cool--the bus looks like it was made for it. I would have played mostly with the triple decker Esso with the elevator...

Cool stations Les.

I was at an auction awhile back in NYS or New England and there was a collection of about 40 different '30s-'40s toy stations- tin litho and masonite.

Here are two newer ones I picked up this weekend.

This is the Jane Francis Gulf station. I don't know if it was a give-a-way or sold in stores, maybe someone can chime in on this. It's pretty cool all of this in a small box. It even has a garage door!
